Music

Music plays an important part in QE2 curriculum. Every class has a weekly 45min music lesson with focus on all aspects of musical education. In each lesson students are encouraged to make number of choices ranging from which instruments they play to dynamic quality of the sound they produce. They have opportunities to show their skills both individually and as part of the group, learning simple melodic phrases, choruses of various topic-based songs as well as engaging with instruments and devices that are specifically designed to enable the best possible accessibility and inclusion for all types of special educational needs.

The school works closely with Tri-Borough Music Hub and is involved in number of projects and performances both at the school premises as well as at some of the high profile venues that are in its vicinity such as Lyric Theatre, Royal Albert Hall or Wigmore Hall.

We also have fully trained Nordoff-Robbins music therapy specialist who comes to school one day a week and gives 1:1 sessions to students who benefit the most from interacting with music in a therapeutic setting.
