Very Special Literacy
This event will take place between 9:30am and 4:00pm on 23/05/2017
Presented by Les Staves
The day is about working onwards from the most fundamental levels of communication to deliver the ‘Literacy’ curriculum for children with severe or profound learning difficulties .
It sets the curriculum strands of literacy including the early development of communication - reading and writing, into relevant contexts for very special pupils – and includes lots of ideas for resources and teaching children who are working right across the range of P scales.
Les will also provide ideas about how to interpret National Curriculum guidance to provide appropriate learning for pupils who are working across the range of P scales.
Every bit as inspirational as ‘very special maths’ – and probably even more fun.
Full of sensory and social teaching activities, and including using i-Pads for ‘sonics’, phonics, storytelling and writing.
Cohort: Staff working with pupils across the range of P scales
Cost: £100 for all participants, including lunch and refreshments.
This course will be held at the Access & Inclusion Centre,
Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee School, Kennet Road, W9 3LG
