At College Park School we believe that Literacy is a fundamental life skill. During literacy lessons pupils develop the ability to listen, communicate, read and write for a wide range of purposes and audiences.

Pupils are encouraged to express themselves, as they become enthusiastic and critical readers of fiction and non fiction stories, poetry and drama. Pupils are also encouraged to apply functional purposes for reading and following instructions.

Pupils use their knowledge, skills and understanding in communication, reading and writing across a range of different situations to enable them to develop their functional literacy skills to become young independent adults.
