Outline |
This course is designed to address the common difficulties that children with additional needs have in using the toilet, as well as discussing ways to support their independence in other life skills. It will looks at strategies that will help children to overcome these difficulties, resources and activities that may help children to use the toilet more independently and some interventions for specific toileting issues. |
Description |
During the session you will have the chance to explore the reasons behind why children with additional needs may have difficulty in using the toilet, to discuss resources and activities that may help children to use the toilet more independently, as well as other life skills, and to ask the OT's questions around developing independence for children with additional needs. |
Outcome |
You will have a better understanding of the reasons why children with additional needs can have toileting difficulties and a range of strategies to support with specific toileting issues and a general understanding of how to teach new skills for independence to children with additional needs. |
