Science at College Park is designed to enable our students to understand the world, which they live in. We provide students with enriched opportunities to access topics as set by the statutory national curriculum, although most of our pupils are working at P levels.

Our students develop life skills through real-world experiences in outdoor environments such as our local museums, zoos, parks, local businesses, sensory gardens, galleries, and centres. Our students benefit from sensory opportunities within the school grounds allowing them to develop their senses and to engage in cooking, structured play with various materials , role-play, group games, interactive activities, and teacher-led sessions.
Science is taught over two year cycle allowing us to give children many opportunities to explore each topic. We invite presenters to deliver workshops to our students enabling them to see, touch, and encounter real animals within the school grounds.

We incorporate many areas in science which include:

  • Sensory
  • Movement, songs, and games
  • Investigations
  • Exploratory
  • Workshops
  • Outdoor learning
  • Trips
